EC 1.6. Dehydrogenases that act on NADH or NADPH

EC 1.6 subclass definition

The EC 1.6 subclass contains dehydrogenases that acts on NADH or NADPH. The catalytically important is reverse reaction - reduction of the substrate with NAD+ or NADP+ acceptors and therefore many enzymes from EC 1.6 subclass are reclassified for aforementioned reverse reaction - reduction of the substrates with NAD+ or NADP+ acceptors. Further classification is based on acceptors involved in catalysis.

Further classification of EC 1.6 subclass

This classification is based on acceptors involved in catalysis.
  • EC 1.6.1 - Acceptors are NAD+ or NADP+
  • EC 1.6.2 - Acceptor is heme protein
  • EC 1.6.3 - Acceptor is oxygen
  • EC 1.6.4 - Acceptor is disulfide
  • EC 1.6.5 - Acceptor is quinone or similar compaund
  • EC 1.6.6 - Acceptor is nitrogenous group
  • EC 1.6.7 - Acceptor is iron-sulfur protein
  • EC 1.6.8 - Acceptor is flavin
  • EC 1.6.99 - All other acceptors, also reserved for non classified enzymes
